This recipe will make approximately 50ml of lip balm with beautifully tinted sparkly rose color, delicious peppermint flavor, vitamin E oil and what is also most important it heals chapped and dry lips.

You will need:
  • A small sauce pan
  • Metal bowl
  • A tablespoon of natural yellow beeswax
  • 2 tablespoon of Centella asiatica infused oil
  • 2 tablespoon of vitamin E oil
  •  2 tablespoon of vegetable glycerin
  • 8 drops of Peppermint essential oil
  • Pinch of lip safe mica powder Frosty rose color
  • Suitable container with a lid
Beeswax: has natural moisture retaining properties that also protect against environmental factors which may cause damage and harm to the delicate structure of the lips. Beeswax not only softens and locks in the moisture to prevent dryness but also has a natural anti bacterial, anti septic, wound healing properties. Beeswax naturally contains vitamin A which aids to skin cell regeneration.
Centella asiatica (Gotu Cola) is one of my favorite herbs use for various health issues and skin. I have personally added to all my products and made my own herbal infused oil. The reason why I think it’s a valuable herb is that several sources suggests that topically Centella may increase cell proliferation, collagen production (wound healing), strengthen newly formed skin cells, improves capillaries, reduced scar formation, strengthen connective tissue and have anti bacterial and anti viral properties.
Vitamin E: is a natural anti oxidant which means it protects the skin from harmful factors and has anti aging properties. I use vitamin E in many preparations purely simply because it is a natural preservative and also it smoothes and moisturizes the skin.
Glycerin is humectants which mean it attracts water to the outer layer of the skin and prevents dryness and cracking. Some people say that glycerin is also hygroscopic (attracts water from air) but I cannot confirm this myself. However glycerin has wonderful smoothing, moisturizing, protecting and healing properties.

Method:
  • Heat the pan with boiling water and place the metal bowl over it so it’s stable and does not move around.
  • Place beeswax into the metal bowl and melt it into the liquid
  • Once beeswax it’s ready pour 2 tablespoons of Centella asiatica infused oil, 2 tablespoon of vitamin E oil and 2 tablespoon of glycerin into the melted beeswax
  • Put 8 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • Remove the pan from the heat and add pinch of mica powder (just the tip of the tablespoon), stir rapidly to mix all the ingredients together and place into clean container

Tips:
  • Always clean surfaces and containers before making your own cosmetics
  • If you would like to make your lip balm a much harder consistency remove 2 tablespoons of Centella infused oil
  • Centella asiatica rarely cause allergic reactions but it does happen so always test your ingredients before use.
  • You can choose any essential oil such as Rose absolute or Rose Otto, avoid essential oils that can cause toxicity
  • Store your lip balm in sterile (tin or jar) in cool and dark place
